Dr. Jack Easley

Jack Easley received a DVM degree from Tuskegee University in 1976. After completing a Large Animal Internship at Oklahoma State University, he served as an Associate Professor of Surgery at Kansas State University from 1978 to 1980 where he completed an Equine Surgical Residency and received a Masters Degree in Surgery.

Dr. Travis Henry grew up in Central Michigan and graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. In 1996, he started his own practice in Neenah, Wisconsin, and after selling this practice 7 years later he started Midwest Veterinary Dental Services and began to focus solely on veterinary dentistry.
Dr. Astrid Bienert-Zeit

Astrid studied Veterinary Medicine in Berlin and Hannover and graduated in 2000. After completing her doctoral thesis she continued with a multi-disciplinary equine education, focusing more and more on soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia and dentistry.

He was an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, 1980-1982. In 1982, he was certified as a Diplomate for the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Equine) and was recertified in 1992, 2002, and 2012. He most recently has become board certified by the American Veterinary Dental College as an equine dental specialist.
For over 40 years, Dr. Easley has lectured extensively on and promoted equine veterinary dentistry throughout the world. He has written hundreds of articles for publication in professional as well as lay equine journals, textbooks, and periodicals. He serves on the editorial review boards for Equine Veterinary Education, Equine Veterinary Journal, and the Veterinary Dental Journal. Dr. Easley is the co-editor and major contributor of Equine Dentistry
Dr. Easley resides in Shelbyville, Kentucky where he owns a private practice emphasizing equine dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, medicine and reproduction. He consults extensively in the areas of dental and maxillofacial surgery and accepts referrals from veterinarians seeking help in these areas.

During this time, Dr Henry travelled extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Australia teaching basic and advanced dentistry to veterinarians and consulting for Veterinary Dental Products. Dr. Henry completed a dentistry residency at University of California Davis, passing the dentistry boards in 2015, therefore achieving diplomat status with the American Veterinary Dental College. In 2016, he passed his second dentistry board exam with the American Veterinary College, Equine Specialty.
Dr. Henry and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Joshua and Noah, and share their hobby farm with their dogs and chickens. In his spare time, Dr. Henry enjoys fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, spending time with family (especially “Up North”), and working on his antique John Deere tractors.

She joined the team at the Equine Hospital in Hannover in 2002 and became head of the Department of Equine Dentistry and Sinus Surgery. Astrid is a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC Equine) since 2013.
Her main research interests are clinical investigations on EOTRH, improvement of equine sedation and analgesia during oral and sinus surgery as well as microbiological studies on different sinus diseases.
However, her biggest passion remains teaching veterinary students and veterinarians in equine dentistry.

After graduation Brad completed an ambulatory internship at Rood and Riddle, the following year became an associate and served as the resident veterinarian for Shadwell farm. Dr. Tanner became a shareholder in the practice in 2012. He is one of very few Board-Certi fi ed Veterinary Dentist ™ and a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College.
His ambulatory practice is largely focused on dentistry, Thoroughbred reproduction, neonatal/ foal medicine and herd health. Dr. Tanner has a large referral case load for advanced dentistry and surgical procedures with an interest in sinus disease. He serves on many committees in organized medicine for the AVMA, AAEP, KAEP and College of Veterinary Dentistry. Dr. Tanner is published in both the areas of reproduction and dentistry and frequently lectures at local, national and international scienti fi c meetings.
He is married with two sons and enjoys spending time outside on their farm in Versailles and raising Thoroughbred foals. Away from the farm he enjoys coaching youth baseball/ basketball and attending live sporting events-UK sports, horse racing and baseball games.

Hubert graduated from the University of Vienna in Veterinary Medicine in 1992. Following a two year period in a private equine clinic near Vienna, he completed his doctoral thesis in 1996 and returned to the University as an assistant at the Clinic for Surgery where he specialised in Equine Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Amy Grice

Dr. Grice was an ambulatory equine practitioner in the Hudson Valley of New York for over 25 years, and served as the managing partner of the thirteen-doctor equine referral hospital in Rhinebeck, New York. At the end of 2014, she retired from clinical practice to concentrate on veterinary business consulting, and moved her residence to Virginia City, Montana.

Dr. Griffin is a faculty member of the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University where he provides clinical instruction to students and house officer as an ambulatory clinician, and performs classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of equine dentistry. Over the years, Dr. Griffin has also taught numerous continuing education courses in the area of equine dentistry for veterinarians.

Henry joined B&W Equine Veterinary Group at the beginning of 2017 from the Langford Vets at the University of Bristol where he had been a Senior Lecturer in Equine Surgery for the 14 years. He was also Head of Equine Clinical Services until 2015, where he was responsible for teaching soft tissue surgery and dentistry to veterinary undergraduates.
Henry is an RCVS Specialist in Equine Surgery and Dentistry and his particular interests are upper airway surgery, maxillofacial surgery and dentistry. He has published widely in these fi elds, and lectured and taught at conferences and courses around the world.
Born and educated in Gloucestershire, Henry’s other interests include playing tennis, cycling, skiing, kitesur fi ng and occasional fi eld sports.

In 2013 Hubert became a specialist of the newly formed equine branches of the American and European Dental Colleges. Since 2015 Hubert is associate professor for Equine Surgery in Vienna. In 2020, Hubert set up his own clinic Tierklinik Gaaden.
Hubert has published several studies and clinical articles in peer-reviewed veterinary journals and lectures regularly at national and international courses and conferences on equine dentistry.

Dr. Grice received her BA in biology from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and completed her veterinary education at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. She earned her MBA with a concentration in ethical leadership from Marist College School of Management in 2014. Dr. Grice is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, where she served on the Board of Directors from 2015-2018, currently serves on several task forces and committees, and was appointed treasurer for 2021-2023. She is also a member of the AVMA Economic Strategy Committee (2018 – present).

João received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Portugal in 2007. He spent the next two years doing clinical work in Portugal and Spain, mostly with endangered breeds of donkeys (the Mirandês and the Zamorano-leonés donkeys).

He successfully managed the practice until the mid nineties when the rigors of equine work and his desire to pursue an MBA led to a career change. In the summer of 1999 he graduated from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, NC with a dual degree (MBA/MHA). As part of his course work Dr. Guenther laid the foundation for an Emergency/Critical Care 24/7 facility in Asheville, and at the same time he joined Brakke Consulting, Inc.
Dr. Guenther is presently a principle in Strategic Veterinary Consulting, Inc. (SVC). Dr. Guenther and the other members of SVC offer a full range of practice management, marketing, and valuation services to veterinarians. Dr. Guenther's main focus in practice management has been practice valuation, financial analysis, and practice operations. In late 2012 he became a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). In 2014 he became a certified analyst in Mergers and Acquisitions (CM&AA). He has performed over twenty-five full valuations and an equal number of feasibility analyses for buyers. He has done several divorce valuations and was an expert witness in a partnership dissolution.
In 2008 Dr. Guenther reentered the practice ownership ranks by starting two veterinary practices. In 2014 he consolidated the practices into one location and is the chief medical officer and owner for Beacon Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Guenther has over 40 years of clinical and ownership experience.

He has conducted many workshops focused on donkeys health and welfare. During this same period he developed his interest, knowledge and skills in veterinary dentistry. In 2009, he began his PhD program focusing on research in the field of donkey dentistry in collaboration with the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and at Complutense University of Madrid
João is also a former partner and board member of the Portuguese Society of Veterinary Dentistry, and he is classified as an Expert in Veterinary Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery by the Complutense University of Madrid. João is a guest trainer in several international projects focused on improving the welfare of working equids in Portugal, Spain, Morocco (American Fondouk) and Mexico.
As a result of his research work, João has attended some of the most relevant national and international conferences in his research field, and he is also the author of scientific papers in the field of donkey dentistry.

During this time, she treated a wide variety of cases, allowing her to gain a broad knowledge of equine veterinary medicine and surgery. Dr Kirsten Jackson did most of the dentistry work at the practice and quickly realised it was a huge area of often undiagnosed pain in horses. This led her to complete numerous courses in equine dentistry and develop a keen interest in the subject.
In 2010, Dr Kirsten Jackson started ‘Dental Vet’ as she could see there was a genuine need in Western Australia for quality dental care. In 2012, she became one of only a few veterinarians across Australia and New Zealand to achieve Australia’s highest qualification in equine dentistry. After extensive examination, she became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Dentistry.
In 2013 Dr Jackson began her research, trying to fi nd a cause and treatment/ management for equine peripheral dental caries (tooth decay), which was very prevalent in Western Australia. After 8 years and 7 publications in leading international journals she was awarded her PhD from the University of Western Australia. Through the research they were able to fi nd numerous risk factors and were able to show that through removal of those risk factors, the condition could be cured in many cases. She is passionate about furthering the field of equine dentistry and is continuing her research so we can help not only our own patients here, but horses all around the world.
Dr Kirsten Jackson is passionate about equine dentistry and continued her education, having completed numerous courses in advanced horse dentistry, worldwide. She travels the world to spend time with and learn from veterinary dental specialists who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in equine dentistry. She also collaborates with human dentists to help progress what is possible in her equine patients. Dr Jackson is passionate about bringing this knowledge back to Western Australia to ensure horses here are provided with the very best care and up-to- date techniques and equipment the world has to offer. Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering for the animal charity Animal Aid Abroad.

Following graduation from veterinary school, she completed an internship in medicine and surgery at New England Equine Medical and Surgical Center in Dover, NH. She then joined a mixed practice in Connecticut that focused on advanced dentistry, and her interest was sparked.
A Massachusetts native, Dr. Limone returned home and has been a general equine practitioner on the north shore and southern New Hampshire since 2009. Her caseload and interest has become increasingly focused on dentistry over that time, and she began working on a fellowship in equine dentistry with the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry (AVD) in 2010. There are currently only 6 veterinarians worldwide who have accomplished this level of professional achievement. In 2014, the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) established a formal equine dentistry residency program for specialty board certification. Dr. Limone transitioned from working towards the fellowship to pursuing requirements for the residency program with the goal being to attain board certification (equine veterinary dentist) in the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC). In 2018 Dr. Limone completed the residency program, fulfilling caseload and publication requirements, as well as passing both written and practical exams to become a diplomate of the AVDC for equine specialty
Dr. Limone is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the veterinary profession's premier organization for the scientific advancement of equine veterinary medicine and professional support. She also serves on the Welfare and Public Policy Advisory Committee for AAEP. Dr. Limone is an active member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), serving as Treasurer in 2018 and also serves on their Legislative Committee. She is a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS) which promotes and advances veterinary dentistry in general and is currently expanding to establish equine dentistry as a recognized practice specialty. Dr. Limone regularly attends continuing education events focusing on this rapidly advancing facet of veterinary medicine. Dr. Limone also enjoys volunteering with spay/neuter surgeries for the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.

In 2007, Dr Kirsten Jackson completed her veterinary studies at Murdoch University, Western Australia, passing her degree with honours. Immediately after, she worked as an equine veterinarian for just over two years.

During this time, she treated a wide variety of cases, allowing her to gain a broad knowledge of equine veterinary medicine and surgery. Dr Kirsten Jackson did most of the dentistry work at the practice and quickly realised it was a huge area of often undiagnosed pain in horses. This led her to complete numerous courses in equine dentistry and develop a keen interest in the subject.
In 2010, Dr Kirsten Jackson started ‘Dental Vet’ as she could see there was a genuine need in Western Australia for quality dental care. In 2012, she became one of only a few veterinarians across Australia and New Zealand to achieve Australia’s highest qualification in equine dentistry. After extensive examination, she became a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Dentistry.
In 2013 Dr Jackson began her research, trying to fi nd a cause and treatment/ management for equine peripheral dental caries (tooth decay), which was very prevalent in Western Australia. After 8 years and 7 publications in leading international journals she was awarded her PhD from the University of Western Australia. Through the research they were able to fi nd numerous risk factors and were able to show that through removal of those risk factors, the condition could be cured in many cases. She is passionate about furthering the field of equine dentistry and is continuing her research so we can help not only our own patients here, but horses all around the world.
Dr Kirsten Jackson is passionate about equine dentistry and continued her education, having completed numerous courses in advanced horse dentistry, worldwide. She travels the world to spend time with and learn from veterinary dental specialists who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in equine dentistry. She also collaborates with human dentists to help progress what is possible in her equine patients. Dr Jackson is passionate about bringing this knowledge back to Western Australia to ensure horses here are provided with the very best care and up-to- date techniques and equipment the world has to offer. Following graduation from veterinary school, she completed an internship in medicine and surgery at New England Equine Medical and Surgical Center in Dover, NH. She then joined a mixed practice in Connecticut that focused on advanced dentistry, and her interest was sparked.
A Massachusetts native, Dr. Limone returned home and has been a general equine practitioner on the north shore and southern New Hampshire since 2009. Her caseload and interest has become increasingly focused on dentistry over that time, and she began working on a fellowship in equine dentistry with the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry (AVD) in 2010. There are currently only 6 veterinarians worldwide who have accomplished this level of professional achievement. In 2014, the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) established a formal equine dentistry residency program for specialty board certification. Dr. Limone transitioned from working towards the fellowship to pursuing requirements for the residency program with the goal being to attain board certification (equine veterinary dentist) in the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC). In 2018 Dr. Limone completed the residency program, fulfilling caseload and publication requirements, as well as passing both written and practical exams to become a diplomate of the AVDC for equine specialty
Dr. Limone is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the veterinary profession's premier organization for the scientific advancement of equine veterinary medicine and professional support. She also serves on the Welfare and Public Policy Advisory Committee for AAEP. Dr. Limone is an active member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), serving as Treasurer in 2018 and also serves on their Legislative Committee. She is a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS) which promotes and advances veterinary dentistry in general and is currently expanding to establish equine dentistry as a recognized practice specialty. Dr. Limone regularly attends continuing education events focusing on this rapidly advancing facet of veterinary medicine. Dr. Limone also enjoys volunteering with spay/neuter surgeries for the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.

Dr. Marx left the Army and attended the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1995. Dr Marx became a partner in a mixed animal practice in Bailey, CO, mainly focusing on large animals where he developed an interest in equine dentistry.
He started Advance Equine Dentistry in March 2000, and has practiced equine dentistry almost exclusively for the last 16 years. He practiced in the Texas Panhandle before returning home to the Midsouth and opening Animal Care Hospital in Oakland, TN in March 2001. Seeing the impact of oral healthcare upon the systemic health and well-being of his patients motivated Dr. Galloway to seek specialty training in dentistry and orofacial surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College with board-certification in both the Small Animal and the Equine Specialties and is also an Equine Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry.

After working in general mixed practice (Tasmania, Australia), he returned to the WCVM for two back-to-back residencies in equine practice and large animal surgery.
Next, Dr. Carmalt spent one year practising in Australia at an equine specialty practice that focused on thoroughbred broodmare and foal surgery. He returned to Canada in 2007 and joined the WCVM's Department of Large Animal Sciences where he is a tenured full professor.
Dr. Carmalt travels extensively to work in private practices and academic institutions internationally. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research findings at more than two dozen international conferences.
His main areas of research are equine dentistry (specifically temporomandibular joint or TMJ disease) and evidence-based medicine. He holds a PhD (the topic of which was equine pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction or PPID), and is quadruple-boarded (equine practice, equine dentistry, equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, and large animal surgery).

Dr. Stephen is a past-President of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) and is currently President of the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. He was named the TN Practitioner of the Year in 2012 and received the TVMA Distinguished Service Award in 2017.
Dr. Stephen met his wife Dr. Melanie Galloway in vet school. They have a litter of children (triplets), live on a farm in Fayette County, and enjoy outdoor activities.

Apryle received her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011. She did her internship at Texas A&M University’s Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in large animal medicine, surgery, and ambulatory practice.
Apryle then completed a residency in Equine Dentistry at the University of Edinburgh and is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College (Equine Subspecialty)
Outside of VetNOW, Apryle likes to spend time with her horse Wynter. She is an avid skier, enjoys running, and spending time with family.

Dr James Carmalt

After working in general mixed practice (Tasmania, Australia), he returned to the WCVM for two back-to-back residencies in equine practice and large animal surgery.
Next, Dr. Carmalt spent one year practising in Australia at an equine specialty practice that focused on thoroughbred broodmare and foal surgery. He returned to Canada in 2007 and joined the WCVM's Department of Large Animal Sciences where he is a tenured full professor.
Dr. Carmalt travels extensively to work in private practices and academic institutions internationally. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research findings at more than two dozen international conferences.
His main areas of research are equine dentistry (specifically temporomandibular joint or TMJ disease) and evidence-based medicine. He holds a PhD (the topic of which was equine pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction or PPID), and is quadruple-boarded (equine practice, equine dentistry, equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, and large animal surgery).

After her internship Dr. Chiero remained as a staff veterinarian and clinical instructor to senior veterinary students and intern veterinarians in ambulatory practice. She completed her residency in Equine Dentistry while at Ohio State University performing both primary care and referral dentistry. She has trained with a dozen other Equine Dental Diplomates across the U.S. as well as in Austria and England. Naomi is currently an associate veterinarian at Equine Veterinary Dental Services in Newark, Ohio, USA. In addition to advanced equine dentistry, she has a growing interest in dental care in zoo and ruminant species.

He then went on to complete an 18-month internship at the Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, before embarking on a surgical residency at the University of Edinburgh, co-supervised by Rossdales. Tim re-joined the practice in 2014, and prior to working full time in the hospital team he spent time worked in our Hertfordshire practice and then as part of our Newmarket horses in training team.

He was awarded RCVS Specialist status in 2016 and joined the partnership at Rossdales in April 2017. Tim became a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC) in 2018, and a clinical director of Rossdales in 2021.

Since then, he has worked at the University of London, Auburn University, the University College Dublin, and the University of Tennessee, where he has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Science since 2003. He has special interests in respiratory surgery, reproductive surgery, lameness, and minimally invasive surgery of horses.
His clinical focus is soft-tissue surgery, and his research interests include lameness, wound therapy, and stem cell therapy. Dr. Schumacher’s teaching focus include orthopaedics, respiratory disease, and dentistry. He is also a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Career highlights include the 2004 College Prize by ANZCVS, the meritorious service award from the AVA in 2000, the EVA Peter Irwin Literary Award in 2006. In 2012, Dr Wilson was made a Fellow of the Australian Veterinary Association. Previous positions held include the head subject examiner in equine dentistry for ANZCVS, chief examiner for ICEVO.
Dr Wilson has written numerous textbooks on veterinary dentistry and has authored over 25 articles in refereed scientific journals and more than 250 conference proceedings. He has presented over 600 postgraduate lectures for veterinarians and undergraduate veterinary students.
